History of SFI

Scale Free International started out in the 1970’s as
Nokem.  During that time the owner, Len Vollman, developed a non-chemical water treatment process and began marketing it locally in St. Louis.  Len patented the original non-chemical water treatment process in 1979 and changed the company name to Scale Free Systems (SFS).  After some initial success, Mr. Vollman’s other business interests put the non-chemical water treatment process on the back burner. In 1991 Robert Meeh II, owner of The R.F. Meeh Company (a mechanical contracting/HVAC company), bought out Scale Free Systems and its patent rights and breathed new life into the company.  SFS expanded its chemical-free water treatment process territory to 4 states in the Midwest region and incorporated the use of control monitors in 1997.  The patent was then renewed.

Robert Meeh realized he had a unique and revolutionary water treatment process that could rival the chemical industry, and he needed help to launch his plan. He searched for the right entrepreneurs/investors to help take SFS to the next level by marketing the enhanced patented scale elimination process nationally and internationally. In 2002 Scale Free International (SFI), headquartered in Fenton, Missouri, was born and serves as the parent company to SFS.
